Four questions, and ask for the answers in writing. They take a minute and they separate almost everybody.

How do you prep the slab? You want to hear diamond grinding. If you hear acid etching, or nothing specific at all, that is your answer.

What is the base coat? The first coat is what holds the whole floor on, and it is the easiest place to save money without you ever noticing until it lifts.

Is crack repair included? If it is not written into the quote it becomes a change order on install day. Ours is included.

Who is doing the work? Employees or subcontractors. Ours are our own W-2 crews, which is why the job looks the same in every city we cover.

Is the cheapest quote ever the right one?

Sometimes, if the scope genuinely matches. Usually the gap is in the prep or the base coat, and neither one shows up in a photo. Put two quotes side by side on those two lines and the difference normally explains itself.

Is a DIY kit worth it?

For a small shed floor, maybe. For a garage, the equipment is the problem more than the skill. Grinding a slab properly needs a machine you would have to hire, and a fast-curing product is unforgiving about timing. A lot of the failed floors we grind off started as kits.

How do I know if a coating is really UV stable?

Ask directly and get the answer in writing. If it comes back vague, assume it is not. A garage door facing the afternoon sun will find out inside a year.

Does the color choice matter?

Only for how it looks and how much it shows. A mid-tone flake blend hides dust and tire marks better than a flat dark color does. We go through the options in choosing a garage floor color.
