Garage floor coating in Texas

Garage floor coating in Texas, priced online and backed for life.

Texas is hard on a garage floor. Summer heat, sun straight through an open door, and a slab sitting on clay that moves every time it rains. We install one system built for that, we publish the price so nobody has to sit in your kitchen to give you one, and we back an interior garage floor for as long as you own the home.

Why the floor matters more here

Three things about Texas that decide how long a floor lasts.

A garage floor in Michigan and a garage floor in Texas are not asked to do the same job. These are the three that actually come up on our installs, and all three change what we are willing to put down.

Heat, and sun straight through the door

Your garage runs hotter than any room in the house, and for much of the year the sun comes straight in across the slab every afternoon. Heat and ultraviolet light are what turn a light floor yellow. Polyaspartic is ultraviolet stable, so the color you choose is the color it stays. Epoxy ambers whether the door is open or not, which is one of the reasons we do not install it.

A slab that moves

Much of Texas sits on expansive clay. It swells when it rains and shrinks when it dries, and slabs on it move a little with every season. A brittle finish cracks when that happens. Polyaspartic stays slightly flexible once cured, so small movement does not show up in the floor.

What no coating can do is hold concrete together. If the slab itself cracks because the ground moved, that is a concrete problem and we will tell you so rather than coat over it and let you find out later.

Moisture coming up through the concrete

Closer to the coast, and under any older slab with a thin or missing vapor barrier, water vapor moves up through the concrete and pushes a coating off from underneath. It does not matter what the coating cost. We check for it first, and if the slab is pushing moisture we will not coat over it at all: that means extra prep or a new date, and either way we tell you before we start, not halfway through.

One system, not a menu

Why we install polyaspartic and nothing else.

Plenty of companies in Texas will quote you either one and let the price decide. We do not, and this is the whole reason. Read it knowing which side we are on.

Polyaspartic, what we install

  • Ultraviolet stable, so a Texas summer does not turn your light gray floor yellow.
  • Stays slightly flexible once cured, so a slab moving on clay does not crack the finish.
  • Bonds into a slab we diamond grind open rather than sitting on top of it, so it does not lift off the slab.
  • Each coat is ready for the next without a long wait, so your garage comes back to you quickly.
  • Low odor while it cures, which matters when the garage is attached to the house.
  • 15 to 20 years of real service life, and covered for life on an interior garage.

Epoxy, what we do not install

  • Cheapest like for like, which is the whole reason it is still sold.
  • Ambers and fades under sun and heat, whether the floor is covered or not.
  • Brittle once cured. The slab moves, the finish cracks.
  • Service life is genuinely unpredictable. A few weeks at the bad end, a couple of years at the good end, and nobody can tell you in advance which one you are buying.
  • Strong fumes for days while it cures.
  • When it fails it has to come off before anything else can go down, so you pay twice.

Worth checking on any quote you are holding: a quote can say polyaspartic and still put an epoxy or polyurea base coat underneath it, which is not a polyaspartic floor and does not last like one. Ours is polyaspartic in both coats. How the systems actually differ, and polyaspartic against epoxy side by side.

What a cheap quote skips

Most of the job happens before any color goes down.

The preparation is the part you never see and the part that decides whether the floor is still there in ten years. It is also the first thing a cheap quote quietly drops.

We diamond grind the slab open so the coating bonds into the concrete. An acid wash is cleaning, not preparation, and it is the difference you cannot see on a quote.

Service area

Garage floor coating in your Texas city.

Each page has the install days and the pricing for that metro. If your town is not named, call us and ask: the crews travel further than the city limits.

Towns our crews are in most weeks.

Dallas and Fort Worth: Plano, Frisco, Allen, McKinney, Prosper, Celina, Little Elm, Denton, Carrollton, Richardson, Addison, Farmers Branch, Irving, Keller, North Richland Hills, Watauga and Haltom City.

Austin: Round Rock, Cedar Park, Leander, Pflugerville and Georgetown.

Houston: The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe, Tomball and Shenandoah.

We also install across the line in Oklahoma City. Same system, same warranty, same published price.

Not sure which crew covers you? Email hello@mygaragefloors.com or call (469) 990-9990. Why the price is published and why nobody is sent to your house is on how it works.

What you get in writing

What we stand behind, in plain terms.

$99 to book, and that is the only thing paid before the work is done
Life on an interior garage floor, for as long as you own the home
$99 to book
It holds your install date, and the balance is due when the floor is finished and you have seen it. The cancellation policy has the 72 hour rule in full.
Lifetime warranty on an interior garage floor
Peeling, blistering, fading and yellowing, for as long as you own the home, with no year count on it. It is yours rather than the next owner’s. A patio or a pool surround is covered for 10 years instead, because a lifetime term on a slab in full Texas sun is a number we could not stand behind. The exclusions are published.
Price match, and another $50 off
Bring us a written quote for the same floor from a real insured installer before install day and we match it and take another $50 off. One match per project. How the price match works.
You hear the bad news before we start
Moisture in the slab, or a slab we can see is likely to keep moving, means extra preparation or a new date. You are told before the crew opens anything.

Questions

What people in Texas ask us.

Do you cover my part of Texas?

We install out of five Texas metros: Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio and Houston, plus Oklahoma City across the line. Each city page lists what it covers. Our crews go further than the city limits, so if your town is not named it is still worth a call on (469) 990-9990.

Will a Texas summer ruin the floor?

Not an interior garage floor. Polyaspartic is ultraviolet stable, so heat and sun do not amber it, and that is exactly why we use it here. Outside is a different question: a patio or a pool surround in full sun is covered for 10 years rather than for life, and out there we do not warrant appearance change from sun and wear.

My slab already has cracks. Can you still coat it?

Usually yes. Normal hairline cracking and small chips get filled and ground flat as part of the preparation, and once the flake is down you will not find them. What a coating cannot do is hold a slab together. If your concrete is actively moving or badly broken up, we will tell you that before you book rather than coat over it.

How long before I can park on it?

You can walk on the floor the next morning and the cars go back 48 hours after we finish. The installation process page walks through every step, and most of them happen before any coating is opened.

What does a garage floor coating cost in Texas?

It depends on the square footage, the condition of the slab and the color, and it varies a little by metro. Rather than publish a range that will be wrong for your garage, the form gives you the real number in about a minute with no sales call afterwards. See your price, or read what moves the number on the cost page.

Is polyaspartic really better than epoxy, or is that just marketing?

We do not install epoxy, so we are not a neutral judge here. It is genuinely the cheapest option like for like, and that is a real advantage if the only thing you are weighing is today’s invoice. The problem is that its service life is unpredictable: a few weeks at the bad end and a couple of years at the good end, with no reliable way to know in advance. Polyaspartic lasts 15 to 20 years and does not turn yellow. That is the whole of our case.

Do you use your own installers or subcontractors?

Every crew is our own staff, trained in-house on the installation and on how to conduct themselves in somebody’s home. A subcontracted crew is a different company each time with a different standard, which is how two customers of the same company end up with two different floors.

What if I need to reschedule?

Tell us 72 or more hours before your install day and we move it at no cost. Inside 72 hours call us on (469) 990-9990 and we move it for you. If we move the date for weather or anything else on our side, your deposit carries over. See the cancellation policy.
