Three things, mostly. Size is the obvious one. The condition of the concrete is the next, because a slab with cracks or an old coating on it needs more work before anything can go down. Then the finish you pick, since a heavier flake load and a thicker top coat cost more than a light one. Very little else moves it, which is why the number can be worked out online in a minute rather than over an hour in your kitchen.

Why the Cheapest Quote Usually Costs More
Spread over the life of the floor the picture changes. A polyaspartic floor normally runs 15 to 20 years and ours is backed for life for as long as you own the home. A cheaper coating that has to come off and go back down twice in that time costs more in total, and you pay for the grinding each time. A cheap floor you replace is not a cheap floor.
